The
AMANT offers members and the general public access to a complaints
conciliation service which aims to resolve complaints against
members in a non-confrontational manner. |

Complaints
Complaints received against members are conveyed to the member, with
a request for permission for the AMANT to attempt to resolve the concern
raised.
As well, the AMANT offers advice to members who may experience difficulties
with a patient.
It is important to note, the AMANT can only act as a mediator in a patient
complaint with the agreement of the member against whom the complaint
is made and has no jurisdiction to investigate complaints against medical
practitioners who are not members of the AMANT.
Formal complaints resolution services are available through the Medical
Board of the Northern Territory which has full jurisdiction to investigate
complaints against any medical practitioner registered to practice in
the Territory or the Territory's Health and Community Services Complaints
Commission, which has the jurisdiction to investigate complaints against
any person involved in the provision of health services as well as providing
assistance to providers of those services where necessary.
